Our intention at Calvary is to set a worship space and experience that welcomes you in just as you are. Our hope and prayer is that the Spirit will meet you with what you need, be that a space to rest and reset, or a word of grace, comfort, inspiration, or challenge.
Our worship is in the reformed tradition and follows a 4-fold movement of
- Gathering - includes praise, confession and sharing of the peace,
- The Word - includes the reading of scripture and a sermon,
- Thanksgiving - includes communion on the first Sunday of the month and the prayers of the people
- Sending - includes a charge that takes what we have encountered out in love and service to our neighbors
You will be invited to join in traditional and contemporary songs as you feel comfortable. We will indicate where there are places you may wish to stand though sitting throughout is encouraged if you prefer. There will be a time to share prayers in writing that will be named and held by the community, and you are invited to God's table of grace for communion once a month on the first Sunday. God's table at Calvary is open to all.
We trust that God shows up to meet us as we need in the symbols and words we use in worship, both those handed down to us by tradition and in new expressions. And we understand that worship is the work of the people and is enhanced by the full participation of all: The stories, the yearnings, and the gifts you bring to our collective experience.
