You are invited to come as you are and engage as you feel comfortable. If you have questions please let someone know. The usher and pastor are always ready to assist. There are two parking lots on the church campus: one entered via the alley from Marshall Avenue on the North or Myrtle Avenue on the South. The other lower level parking lot is accessed from Wells Street on the East. You can also park along the west side of Porter Street, or in the City Hall parking lot on Myrtle Avenue. Enter via Porter Street, using the stairs or ramp and enter the Lobby through the wooden main doors. We have multiple designated disabled parking spaces in the main parking lot. There are two exterior ramps to enter the building: one by the glass Fellowship Hall door for basement access, or one on the Porter Street side for sanctuary access. We have an elevator to take you between the two floors. We offer hearing devices, additional seat cushions for the pews, large print Bibles, large print bulletins and large print hymnals. Just ask an Usher for assistance. Bathroom downstairs are single use. If you have other access needs or questions please don't hesitate to contact the office by phone or email. Sunday Morning Worship at 9:30 a.m. is the hybrid worship service. You can choose to join via the Zoom link from home or come to the sanctuary in person. If you come in person, you'll be greeted by the Ushers. The bulletin and announcements will be shown on the projection screen. Sit wherever you like. Early in the service we Pass the Peace of Christ and introduce ourselves.  Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. At table we remember God's welcome and grace. The "bread of heaven" and the "cup of the new covenant" are shared. (The passed bread is gluten free and the cup contains grape juice.) If you are worshipping via Zoom you are encouraged to partake at home with whatever you have available. We have on-call Nursery care for infants through 3 years in the Fellowship Hall run by trained staff. The children are signed in and out. There is [Children's Church](/childrens-ministries) for 4 year-olds through 5th grade, or this age group may stay in worship and use one of the Children's Worship Bags that can be found at the Information Table in the Foyer. Weekly Coffee Fellowship is provided downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. Enjoy the array of snacks and beverages while making some new friends in the process. There are many ways you can become part of the Calvary family of faith. We pray that we might be a community that **supports spiritual well-being and inspires thanksgiving, the love of God, and grounding in God’s peace** through: We value full **participation** for all and seek to develop **outlets that allow for the expression and affirmation of the gifts** we each bring. We **build** **community, friendship, and connection** by engaging **meaningful action** together and by taking to time to enjoy God’s blessing and each other as we **eat and enjoy music and art together**. The choir aims to enrich the Plateau’s vibrant community by providing a welcoming space where all youth are supported by caring adults as they grow in connection, kindness, and creativity. With Calvary’s strong musical tradition and gifted staff in choral leadership and performance, we feel both called and well-equipped to facilitate this meaningful after-school community youth choir program.  Choral singing fosters a deep sense of connection and mutual support. Breathing and making music together builds bonds of friendship and trust, while the practice of the arts helps young people discover their unique gifts—and how to use their voices to care for themselves and others.  If you would like to donate to support the choir please see details of our Launch Campaign and how to give below. She holds a degree in Vocal Performance and runs a thriving private voice studio, where she has spent years helping students grow in both skill and confidence. Throughout her career, Lindsay has brought together high musical standards with a deep commitment to community, creativity, and personal connection. Whether directing a children’s chorus, an adult ensemble, or a full-scale production, her leadership is marked by passion, professionalism, and heart. Now, as she launches a new youth choir, Lindsay brings all of that experience to a mission that is close to her heart: creating a space where young singers feel seen, supported, and inspired. You can be too!  Calvary gives financial support to these local organizations.  Plateau Outreach Ministries offers basic needs assistance. As of February 12, 2024 they now have one unified foodbank location on Calvary's campus. **1720 1/2 Wells Street, Enumclaw **Mondays: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm Tuesdays 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Wednesdays: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm **Anyone experiencing food insecurity can visit our foodbanks weekly.** **Our foodbank is open three days a week, with an additional option of door dash if you are unable to come in person.** **Emergency food is still available M-F 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at POM, please call or ring bell on back door and someone will meet you outside.** Click the POM icon to explore their website. It it has a wealth of information and services available. This organization has multiple branches with many volunteers who serve throughout Enumclaw. There is the Care Van, the Neighbors Feeding Neighbors program, and Student Backpack Program along with the Full Bellies program mentioned in the box below.  Excitement is growing, the Foundation has a new location at 1304 Griffin Avenue, that is a community connection space housing all their programs.  The Full Bellies Program is a project of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation. Meals are served every Thursday except the last Thursday of the month. Anyone may attend and receive a free hot meal.  The meals are served at the organization's premises at 1304 Griffin Avenue, between 5:30-6:30 p.m.  Contact Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation office at 360-802-3206 if you have questions. We believe it is integral to our Christian faith, to feed the hungry. My parents, Charles and Leah Quilo, started a house church over 30+ years ago in their home town of Bonbon. Their goal was to help people in our area who wanted to go to church, but could not afford to travel to the city. After about a year, no longer could the house accommodate the people in our living room, so they built a church structure next to the house. This is how Bonbon UCCP started. To this day the church still caters to the same type of people. A number of years ago, one of the members and main financial supporter passed away. The church really struggled financially. To put this into perspective, the church operating expenses was around $270 a month including the pastor’s salary. Faith in Action Ministry started in hopes to re-ignite the energy of the church. A church full of life will find a way to overcome any problems including financial. The goal was simple: Let's help those in need and in the process it will help us understand the true meaning of worship. There are many ways to worship our Lord, but what is even better, putting our faith into action going beyond the walls of the church, to serve God by serving others and sharing the love of Christ through us.  There is a story I read about a person who asked a missionary on why God allows so much suffering, injustice and hunger. The missionary replied that it's not God who allows all these things to happen, it is us. If all of us will only do what God wants us to do, there will a lot less suffering and hunger in this world. Faith in Action Ministry is our opportunity to do just that. Together we can make a difference.  Since we started the Faith in Action Ministry, Bonbon UCCP has grown quite a bit. The youth and the children population has tripled. Yes, money is still a struggle, but they are getting by. Since the church income barely covers the monthly expenses, they have no money for anything else. With our help they can finally concentrate on worship and fellowship on Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays during the rainy days. We also implemented 2 other projects: setup of a Christian Education Center in a place called Baungon at the Baviera Neri residence. Baungon is a remote mountain area outside of Cagayan de Oro City. It usually takes about 3 hours to travel there by jeepney (if it’s not raining), but if it is, would take about 8 hours because the road by the river gets easily flooded and becomes dangerous. Over 40 children attend Bible study regularly and normally would do their activities on the ground because there is no floor and on boxes as their makeshift tables. Our mission provided them with new tables, benches, shelving, materials and supplies. We also pledged to provide snacks every week as some of the kids walk for over an hour. The second was to remodel the church kitchen and start a monthly feeding program, called Full Belly. The area where the church is located is not short of hungry people, especially children. This program has been as a big success.   My friends at Calvary, there are so many similar stories like this. Just know that your support is really impacting people’s lives on that side of the world. Trained staff supervise and care for your little ones while you are participating at worship, bible study, or another event. Talk to an usher when you arrive is you need nursery care. Young people aged four year old through 5th grade are invited to attend Children’s Church on Sunday mornings. Children engage bible stories and teachings, prayer, song and play in an informal, inclusive and loving environment time. Parents are welcome to stay close to their child to support their learning or may leave their child with teachers and return to worship. Children’s Church is dismissed partway through the service. A teacher meets the children at the back of the sanctuary and they go down to the Fellowship Hall. When the learning is done they return upstairs at end of the worship service. Or, if you prefer your child is very welcome stay with you during Worship Services. We love having young worshippers present. They are led by Lindsey Delmarter, Choir Director, and are accompanied by pianist, Marlene Jakel or Daisy Nau. The Agape Ringers are our English Hand Bell choir. They practice each Wednesday at 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Church Narthex. They provide special music at Sunday Worship throughout the year.  Volunteers are needed each week to run the projection system, advance the power point slides, and video recording equipment for our worship services. Training is offered. If you would like to volunteer, contact the Church Office. Sunday morning volunteers are needed for these jobs each week. We'd love your help! It is a great way to meet people and feel like you are part of the Calvary family! The congregation is invited downstairs after worship each week to enjoy coffee, beverages and yummy snacks in the Fellowship Hall provided by volunteers or the Church Life team. We trust that as we learn and grow together we might better understand our faith, the world God loves, and how to live faithfully. Here are some of the ways we are currently learning and growing together. We hope there is something here that might call to you! Dementia is an increasing reality in our lives, with a new case diagnosed every 3 seconds. It is estimated that 70% of those living with Dementia are living in community, and many report that social isolation and stigmatization make life especially tough. This forum will provide information, education, and resources on Dementia and related illnesses. Marigrace Becker, MSW, Director of the [UW Memory Hub](https://thememoryhub.org/), will present the keynote with Q & A. We will host a panel on caregiving, and resources will be available from providers, including Aging and Disability Services. Creating a dementia friendly community on the Plateau is possible and would make a significant difference to countless neighbors and loved ones. **November 8th, 10am - 12 pm, Calvary Presbyterian Church** Join us as we dive into the Gospel of Luke with guidance from N.T. Wright, who brings the New Testament to life by unpacking the ideas and events that shaped Jesus’ story. Whether you're new to the faith or a longtime follower, you'll find inspiration and practical wisdom in this study. We gather at our local bookstore, The Dusty Shelf, to discuss books that engage current social and cultural issues. In September and October, we are exploring and learning about indigenous peoples and how we grow together as kin. Our pattern is to alternate between a non-fiction and a novel on each chosen subject. All are welcome as we grow community by engaging in respectful and open conversation. Books can be ordered from the Dusty Shelf, or contact the church office if you need help getting a book. Next gathering is 10 am on Saturday November 28th when we will discuss *The Gifts of Imperfection* by Brene Brown. A women’s group study of *Finding Resilience, Joy, and Our identity in Jesus Christ* by Rev. Rashell D. Hunter. This book explores resilience modeled by the life of Jesus and other biblical figures and how we can find Christian joy in a chaotic world. Contact Cherie Murchie for more info. Join us for a couple of fun hours of games and conversation. We regularly play a variety of games. Our favorites include Pinochle, Dominoes, and Kwirkle. Friday Evenings 6pm in the Fellowship Hall at Calvary This informal group provides space to work on crafts and reflect together on our daily lives. You can bring your own hand craft, or we have some available for you to pick up, or sometimes we will come together on a joint craft. You do not have to consider yourself crafty or artistic to join the fun - we are happy to help you get started.
